JJ Moses is originally from Waterloo, Iowa. With football in his family line, it was inevitable that JJ would find one of his passions on the football field. Breaking through every barrier that said he could not play football because of his 5’6 stature, JJ’s determined attitude led him to be one the leading high school and college football players in Iowa. His football career started in high school at Waterloo East High. As a sophomore, JJ was moved up to varsity football and was then selected by his peers to be a Captain during his junior and senior years. After breaking the rushing record his father set 30 years prior at his high school, JJ went on to receive a full-ride scholarship to play football at Iowa State University. During his senior year in college, JJ was selected as a First Team All Big XII Kick Returner and Second Team Wide Receiver. JJ was also voted the Most Valuable Player during his senior year at ISU. He helped lead Iowa State to a Bowl game which had not been done for 22 years. That team went on to have a 9-3 record, which was the best record ever in the university’s history. During his years at Iowa State, JJ was also active within the university community. He was awarded the ISU Alumni Association Impact Award, for his role in enhancing the reputation and visibility of the university in 2000. JJ went on to receive his Bachelor’s degree at ISU. JJ began his NFL career in 2001, where his primary roles were as kick returner and punt returner. He also played in the Scottish Claymores of NFL Europe, where he was the number one punt returner for the season. He has previously played for the Kansas City Chiefs, Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears, Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans. JJ is a passionate and energetic speaker with more than 20 years of experience. He is committed to inspiring individuals, corporations, businesses, schools, and organizations to reach their highest potential. Some of his speaking engagements include major corporations and Fortune 500 companies such as, Chevron, Exxon, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, DeWalt, Pepsi Cola, NCAA, Halliburton, Reliant Energy, National Oilwell Varco, Lennox, Verizon Wireless, NFL Play60, Methodist Hospital, Ronald McDonald House, Space Center Houston, USMC, US Army, USO, Goodwill, Lakewood Church, and numerous schools within Houston and surrounding school districts such as Houston ISD, Fort Bend ISD, Galena Park ISD, Pasadena ISD, Katy ISD, and many more. JJ also works alongside FuelUp to Play60, an in-school nutrition and physical activity program launched by the National Dairy Council and the NFL in collaboration with the USDA to help encourage today’s youth to lead healthier lives – effective in 74,000 schools nation-wide. JJ also contributed as an on-air personality for 89.3 KSBJ, one of the largest inspirational radio stations in the country. In November 2012, JJ’s story of making it into the NFL was featured on Oprah’s Lifeclass entitled “Dream Big.” In 2023, JJ also worked with the NCAA to host the Men’s Final Four Talks. In 2008, JJ was brought back by the Houston Texans to be an Ambassador for the organization. As a respected former Texan and fan favorite, JJ was able to utilize his leadership and community relations skills to represent the team throughout the city and at Texans games which has helped earn the team best fan experience in the NFL by J.D. Power & Associates. In 2018, JJ became the Director of Player Development for the Houston Texans where he assisted players with their transition into the NFL and helped prepare them for their post NFL career. He developed the Prepare to Win program that focused on leadership, professional and personal development, financial awareness, life skills and mentorship for players. In 2020, JJ was recognized by the NFL as having the #1 Personal and Professional Development Program in the entire league. Currently, JJ works for the NFL, equipping former NFL athletes transitioning out of the league for post-NFL life. In October 2021, JJ was presented with the first ever key to the city of Waterloo, Iowa by the mayor. JJ’s new book entitled, FOCUSED: The Prepare to Win Mindset was released on October 17th 2023 and upon its debut it was #1 new release in the Business and Professional Growth category on Amazon.
